Upper Years
By the upper years, we mean the final year of mavo, the last two years of havo, and the final three years of vwo. These are important years, during which we guide students in an effective and supportive way toward their much-desired diploma.
Final Exams
Schakel College is authorized to administer the Aruban final exams for mavo, havo, and vwo. This means our students take their exams in the same way and at the same time as students at regular secondary schools.
Our havo and vwo students who follow the Dutch curriculum can also choose to take the Dutch state exams in their final year. The administration of these exams follows a slightly different schedule, and we are happy to explain how this works.
Personal Development
Students in the upper years are at an age where they undergo significant personal development, and we give this careful attention. There is also a strong focus on exam preparation and the factors that can make this easier or more challenging. In our LOBO lessons, we address career choices, further education, and how to prepare for them.
